1st grade Aztec Suns

Here are my 1st graders Aztec suns.  We created these as part of our unit "Art expresses traditions, beliefs, and values."  They learned the importance of the sun symbol for the Aztec people- a symbol of power.  They had fun interpreting the Aztec sun in their own special way.  We all know kids love putting faces on suns!

1st grade Rangoli

My first graders are learning about art that expresses traditions, beliefs, and values.  Here, they learned about Divali and the artistic traditions that it has.  These are their interpretations of Rangoli- Indian sand designs that are traditionally created on the floors of homes as part of the Divali celebration.

4th grade Business Cards

MY 4th graders are doing a unit about commercial art.  They are inquiring about all the kinds of art that exist in the commercial world.  Here, they made business cards.  They made them first on 9x18 paper, then I reduced them to 25% on the color copier (about the size of a business card) and then laminated them.  They are so cool!
The criteria required for them to make a self portrait,  list 3 things about themselves (a service that they provide) as well as a slogan and contact information.
