1st grade :Gyotaku Fish

Here are my first grader's Gyotaku fish prints.  This is another project from their "Traditions, Beliefs, and Values" unit.  Blick art materials has rubber fish that you can buy to mimic this Japanese printing tradition in your classroom.  So fun!  The kids loved it.  

How the World Works: The Causation of Modern Art

Students created these prints during our "abstraction" unit.  We used Soft-Kut rubber blocks for this- very safe and easy for 5th graders.  Talk about engaged- I could hear a pin drop in the classroom while the kids were working on this lesson.  The assignment was to create an abstract composition that had movement.

3rd grade examined the art of Andy Warhol and made these "Everyday Object" prints.
